Calvin Carty February 11, 1975 - January 26, 2024

Calvin Carty, less than 3 weeks from turning 49, suddenly passed away at home in Everett, on January 26, 2024.

He was born February 11, 1975 in Olympia WA, where he grew up and spent his young adult life and had 3 children. Eventually he moved north to the Lynwood/Everett area where he remained until passing.

Most of his career was bartending, which he loved. With his flamboyant, outgoing personality customers enjoyed a show as well as their beverage of choice.

Calvin had a free spirit that was expressive, compassionate and entertaining. His big personality made him hard for anyone who met him to forget him. He never met a stranger. Weekends meant enticing friends over to enjoy his current culinary whim and spend hours gaming with lots of candy to keep everyone fueled. His is goofy exuberant personality kept everyone entertained.

Comicon was on his “must do list”, where he loved dressing up and getting into character, especially to entertain kids. He enjoyed dressing up from his childhood where he had a hand in picking out and creating his costumes from a very early age. Of course  there was Batman, Captain Kirk, Luke Skywalker and his own creation of Captain Universe so he could do more than just save the world. Then there was the purple elephant. He had quite the imagination.

From an early age Calvin loved Snoopy, Legos, Star Wars, Elvis music, Jerry Lewis movies, musicals (especially Camelot). All of which he continued to love. He also loved music early on. Beginning with Disney, “Bear Necessities” being his favorite to sing and dance to. He would spend hours playing his little record player. As an adult he preferred EDM and heavy metal with Korn, Black Sabbath, Linkin Park his favorites for Karaoke.

Calvin was passionate about experimenting with cooking and creating new culinary masterpieces. He was his momma’s go to when she needed cooking tips. For Calvin, hot spices made most everything better. The hotter the better . . .  The one chip challenge may have been a bit over the top!

From an early age he enjoyed many forms of playing games. Starting with board games, then computer games were introduced in his early teens with Commodore 64. He continued to love playing video games and Magic The Gathering.

Calvin loved experiencing new places and things to do. He an Monika would just take off for “Adventure Time” to check out new things.

He was very compassionate with people and animals. Always ready to lend an ear or helping hand, and a huge advocate of adopting rescue animals. Most recently, he and his fiancé Monika adopted 2 orange kittens, as well as ensuring the outdoor strays were well taken care of with food and outdoor shelter.

He will be missed by his loving momma, Melodie Hess; fiancé, Monika Maahs; sister, Gabrielle; children: Alex, Taylor, and Tessa; his five grandchildren; and his many friends and family members. Calvin, may you rest in peace with Auntie Virginia, Uncle Kerm and Eveline Bryant (Monika’s mom). Know that you are loved for all eternity!
