Evelyn Louise Nissen Kubin July 27, 1939 - February 11, 2024

Evelyn Louise Nissen Kubin

7/27/1939 – 2/11/2024

Known to her loved ones as Mom, Grammy, Auntie One, and Aunt Evelyn.

Our mom passed away peacefully among family on February 11, 2024 at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA. She is now reunited with “her Joe”.

Evelyn was born to Floyd “Bud” and Nora “Nan” Nissen in Fargo, Nebraska.  A town in Richardson County that has since dissolved, only a small cemetery remains today. She met Joseph Frank Kubin in October 1956 and they were married on October 4, 1957, while she was still in high school. Evelyn graduated from Edmonds High School in 1958. Together, Joe and Evelyn had four children – Joseph (Sandi), Kimberly (Mike), Toni (Freddy) and Greg (Moni) – and many grandkids and great-grandkids. Evelyn cherished being their Grammy. Evelyn and Joe were married for 58 years prior to Joe’s passing in 2015.

Throughout her life, Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, and sister. She had various occupations including working in department stores, cleaning houses, and taking care of loved ones. She grew up spending time outdoors camping and fishing, and enjoyed traveling her entire life. Evelyn also loved playing Greed (a dice game) often with family and friends.

Evelyn’s family and friends have great memories from time spent with her and Joe at their home in Grayland, WA. They always hosted big Fourth of July celebrations that were attended by 80-100 people for several days; these were a great reunion for everyone and no one left hungry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, “her Joe”, two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by two brothers, her children, grandkids, great-grandkids and many more loved ones.

She will always be remembered for her laughter, sense of humor, and her loving open arms. Her home was open to everyone. She had a heart of gold. We have been so blessed to have had her in our lives and she will be deeply missed.

Please contact the family for information in honoring Evelyn’s life.
