Kathy Thomas May 14, 1946 - January 16, 2022

Kathy Ann (Hettiger) Thomas of Everett, age 75, died peacefully January 16, 2022 with her daughter by her side after a 15 month battle with metastatic lung cancer.Kathy was born May 14, 1946 in San Francisco, CA to Kurt and Kathleen Hettiger, the oldest of 4 children. The family moved to Lake Stevens, WA where Kathy grew up and graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1964. Kathy retired from the Port of Everett Marina office in 2010. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Kurt and Kathleen Hettiger, and brother Kurt Hettiger,jr.Kathy is survived by daughter Darcie Cooper of Lake Stevens, grandchildren Makayla Williams, Olyvia Warren and Nikolas Ohrn. Great grandchildren Mila Nyguen and Meiomi Lindstrom. Sisters Kris (Ed) Trihey, Karla Kirkwood, nieces Tera Trihey and Colleen (Paul) Erskine, Sister-in-law Kate Hettiger, nephews John and Luke Hettiger and Aunt Shirley Hettiger.    Kathy most enjoyed spending time with her family and many lifelong friends. Kathy was very adventurous, downhill skiing into her 70’s, working as a crew member on M/V Friendship in 2019, riding on the back of Harley Davidson to Sturgis,SD from WA in the 90’s, working on a Dude Ranch and Ski resort in Jackson Hole, WY in the 80’s, traveling to Russia and South Africa and spending the month of April in Lake Havasu, AZ in the sun the last 8 years.  Kathy left this world too soon as sickness has a way of disrupting how we think life should go. Kathy was genuine, thoughtful, unassuming, kind and will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends and companion dog Bree.Thank you to Dr. Amir Mehrvarz (Dr. Marvelous as Kathy nicknamed), Providence Home Health care and Hospice staff for the exceptional care.A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 14, 2022, 11:00am-1:00pm at The Mill on Lake Stevens, 1808 Main St, Lake Stevens,WA.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
