Richard “Rick” Schwehm, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 surrounded by loved ones. Born January 7, 1940, in Seattle, Rick grew up in Edmonds, attended Edmonds Elementary and Edmonds High School. In May of 1963, he married his lifelong partner and best friend, Joyce Langstead, and together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure- and it’s that spirit that we celebrate today. He proudly served in the U.S. Military before beginning a long and fulfilling career in management at Boeing, retiring in 1995. After retirement, he and Joy spent many years traveling in their motorhome, creating cherished memories. Rick was a protective family man—loyal, strong, and always ready to stand up for the people he loved. He had a sense of humor that could fill a room, and a spirited approach to life that leaned toward the wild side. Rick was a proud member of the Holmes Harbor Gun Club, where he formed close friendships and spent many days skeet and trap shooting. Whether it was a motorcycle ride, or a loud laugh over a glass of wine, Rick lived boldly and unapologetically. Above all, Rick’s greatest pride was in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy; his son Rich (Lisa) Schwehm and daughter Laurie (Randy) Jallo; his cherished grandchildren Ryan, Brandy, Tyler, Ryder, and Sydney; and great-grandchildren Jaxon and Drew. Rick’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and adventure. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with smiles, stories, and so much love.
