3 Options for Funeral Services September 20, 2017

One of the last things anyone wants to do is handle the planning of a funeral or other services necessary for themselves or especially in the event of the unexpected death of a loved one. However, for most people there comes a time when it is necessary to take the reigns on such an occasion. Knowing your funeral service options will help, but the best thing you can do is ask questions and talk with a knowledgeable funeral home. These are some of the common options offered by funeral homes, each option may have different levels of service.

Direct Cremation Service

A professional funeral home will be able to offer direct cremation services. This is usually the most budget friendly option and includes transportation of the deceased, refrigeration, cremation and includes a temporary container for the cremated remains. This process can only be performed by licensed funeral homes so be sure to ask to see the funeral director’s license to ensure that proper practices are performed during cremation.

Direct Burial

A direct burial is a great plan for those who do not wish to be cremated, yet don’t want to have a graveside ceremony of funeral service. The services that come with this plan can include a basic casket, basic funeral home services, transportation from the place of death and delivery of the deceased to the cemetery. This package does not include graveside services at the time of burial.

Funeral Services

If a full funeral service is desired it can usually be performed at different levels, depending upon the wants and needs of the deceased and any budget. Although a professional funeral home will be able to provide all services at a relatively inexpensive cost. Graveside and funeral services can include transportation of the deceased, refrigeration or embalming, dressing, casketing, graveside delivery, viewing ceremony or full funeral service overseen by the home’s staff. Of course the details of the service will need to be worked out with the funeral home to include any particular services you or the deceased had asked for.
