Gary Ames June 10, 1957 - May 19, 2024

Gary Allen Ames (Big Gary) was born June 10, 1957. He died May 19, 2024 at home in Lynnwood, WA at age 66. He was a very proud as he would say, “Cajun man from Louisiana”. He played hard and worked even harder his whole life. Gary was a devoted employee of Benla Water Heaters for over 25 years.
When Gary moved to Washington he became the biggest Seattle Seahawks fan and never wavered unless they played against The New Orleans Saints. His passion for football started in high school on the West Jefferson football team in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Thanks to the wonderful community engagement department at the Seattle Seahawks he attended his first game during the 2023 season. He even got to meet and shake hands with Pete Carroll in his final season as coach.
Gary was a man of few words but if you happened to get past his tough exterior than you were lucky to see his soft side. Gary surpassed all expectations in the end and we believe he left this world on his terms. If you have a story he shared with you or a memory, his family would love to hear them.
Gary is survived by his wife Karen Ames and his children Kristine Watson, Gary Ames (Little Gary), Michelle Ames, step children Dawn Dougherty, Erin Deal, Kristopher Mcknight and his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Daniel Ames, Raymon Caillouette and his long time friend Toby Dougherty.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Jack Ames, mother Shirley Donath and his beloved grandfather Walter Donath.
