Michael Wayne Schmidt February 20, 1949 - August 3, 2018

Michael Wayne Schmidt, passed into the arms of his loving Father the Lord Jesus Christ after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer on August 3, 2018. Born in Chelan, WA on February 20, 1949and raised in Omak, WA, he graduated from Omak High School and went on to Central Washington University. Mike spent many idyllic days with his grandparents Lizzie and Hans Schimdt in Twisp, WA fishing the rivers and streams, high mountain lakes and hunting for the big buck. Mike met his dear Rosie when they were 22 years old, married and raised their two beautiful daughters, Emma and Katie in Snohomish, WA. He was a lover of the outdoors, treasure hunting, his many dogs and researching local history for the Granite Falls Museum. He shared his passion of the great outdoors with his family during many trips to Popular Flat, backpacking through the Cascades and going to the beach.  He was a talented artist, storyteller, master marine carpenter and wood worker. Mike is survived by his wife Rosie (Fran) Schmidt and his beloved daughters Emma Carpenter (Wesley) and Katarina (Katie) Schmidt, his grandsons Henry and Theodore Carpenter, his mother Rita McCarty, and sisters Kathy and Terri Schmidt. The Schmidt family would like to thank the Machias Community Church and the loving hospice caregivers for their support, kindness and guidance during this journey.
