Dawn Poplin March 31, 1929 - December 16, 2021

The heavens awoke to a beautiful Dawn on December 16, 2021.  Rea Dawn Poplin was a cherished mother, grandma, great grandma and a dear friend to many.  She traveled to many places while she blessed this world with her presence.  With her beloved husband, Red, she traveled to France, Oklahoma, California, Washington and lived many years in their favorite place, Alaska.  She also had the chance to travel to Austria with her son to fulfill her dream to see Lipizzan horses as well as many other amazing places.  When Dawn retold her adventures, she would transport us all to her memories with her infectious smile and laugh.  A talented artist, Dawn shared her passions for horses and nature through painting and creative writing.  Her writing shined the brightest with her epic western adventure, Clara McKay.  An ever social butterfly, Dawn shared her talents with many by teaching painting and writing at multiple senior centers and organizations as well as a public art show on Channel 14 in Placerville, California.   Dawn lost her son Michael the same year she passed, but is survived by her children, Cindy Franklin, Stephen Poplin and Valerie Greene, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Dawn’s compassion, thoughtfulness and slight mischievousness will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.  She was 92 years young.
